Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts that fall within the aims and scope of the International Journal of Intelligent Optimization and Logistics (IJIOL).

Submissions should present original theoretical, methodological, empirical, computational, or applied contributions in areas related to operations research, artificial intelligence, optimization, logistics, transportation systems, supply chain management, and intelligent decision-support systems.

Types of submissions

IJIOL welcomes the following types of manuscripts:

  • Research Articles: original theoretical, methodological, computational, empirical, or applied research.
  • Review Articles: critical reviews, systematic literature reviews, bibliometric studies, or state-of-the-art surveys.
  • Industrial Case Studies: applied studies based on real-world logistics, transportation, supply chain, or optimization problems.
  • Special Issue Articles: manuscripts submitted to approved thematic special issues.

Research articles should normally include the following:

  1. Title
  2. Abstract
  3. Keywords
  4. Introduction
  5. Literature review or background
  6. Methodology
  7. Results and discussion
  8. Conclusion
  9. References
  10. Appendices, if needed

Formatting guidelines

Authors should prepare manuscripts using a clear academic style. The manuscript should normally include:

  • A concise and informative title.
  • An abstract of approximately 150–250 words.
  • 4–6 keywords.
  • Clearly numbered sections and subsections.
  • Tables and figures with clear captions.
  • Complete and accurate references.
  • A declaration of any conflicts of interest, when applicable.

Language

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English. Authors are responsible for ensuring the quality of the language before submission.

Originality

Submitted manuscripts must be original and not under consideration by another journal or conference. Any overlap with previous work, including conference papers, must be clearly disclosed.

References

Manuscripts submitted to IJIOL must follow a numbered citation style. In-text citations should be indicated using square brackets, such as [1], [2], or [3], according to the order in which the sources appear in the manuscript. The reference list must be placed at the end of the manuscript and numbered consecutively in the same order as the citations in the text.

Authors are required to ensure that all cited works are complete, accurate, and consistently formatted. Journal articles, conference papers, books, book chapters, and online sources should include all necessary bibliographic information to allow readers to identify and access the source. The use of reference management software is recommended to maintain consistency and avoid citation errors.

Data, code, and reproducibility

Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to provide access to datasets, source code, computational settings, and supplementary materials to support transparency and reproducibility.
